The Bilwa’s symbolism:
Tree of Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh: The trifoliate Bilwa leaf represents the divine trinity, invoking their complete blessings.
Shiva’s Trishul:The three leaf points symbolize Lord Shiva’s trident, conquering negativity.
Beloved Offering: Bilwa leaves are dear to Shiva. Offering them with devotion is believed to bring his grace.
A Simple Bilwa Archana Practice
- Gather: Collect unblemished Bilwa leaves, holy water (Ganga Jal), flowers, incense, and a lamp.
- Cleanse: Purify yourself with a bath and cleanse the puja area.
- Invoke: Chant “Om Namah Shivaya” or a preferred mantra to invite Lord Shiva.
- Offer the Bilwa: Hold a Bilwa leaf upwards in your right hand. Pour holy water and offer it to the Shiva idol or Shivalinga, chanting “Om Bilva Patraya Namah.” Repeat with each leaf.
- Aarti and Prayers: Perform aarti with a lamp, followed by prayers and silent wishes.
- Conclude: Express gratitude to Lord Shiva and perform a final prayer.
